MONEY BELT WHILE ON PLANE

How does everyone treat the long plane trip when it comes to your money, passport and money belt? I know we will have to provide our passport prior to boarding. Then what? Do you hold on to it until you board, then go the bathroom to place it in your money belt?

When I travel I use two types of money belt type devices. When I'm in transit, like on an airplane, and I need to access my passport I use the neck wallet. When I'm just out sightseeing for the day, I switch to the hidden pocket thingy that attaches to your belt, under my pants. http://tinyurl.com/36os94

I have a (neck) passport holder. I get it out and put around my neck and under my blouse...once they look at it..it goes into my secure fanny pack or my locked day pack. My neck money belt stays in either of the two until I reach my destination. After customs I duck into a bathroom and out comes the neck wallet (stays under the blouse) I take out my Debit card put it in my velcro pocket...go to ATM...take out my daily limit. I take out enough money for that day. Go back to the bathroom and stash the cash. Each morning I take out the cash needed for that day and leave the rest in my money belt.

I use a travel vest with zippered pockets. Have used the vest on numerous trips with no problems. Have not used a moneybelt since 2001.

Ernest, The method I use is to keep my Money Belt in my carry-on luggage during air travel as that greatly simplifies the trip through security. I'll either go to the washroom prior to landing and put it on, or wait until I get to my first Hotel. My Passport always stays with me in a secure shirt pocket. I have always packed along my venerable Tilley Vest on trips to Europe, which I use extensively when I'm day touring to hold photo gear. I decided to try it during flights this year (used a Scott-E-Vest for that last year) and it worked well. It sure makes the trip through security easier! On the issue of "money", I also place my wallet inside the carry-on for trips through security, but it stays in a secure pocket the rest of the time. I have a small leather pouch for coins, which also goes in my carry-on. Happy travels!

And, by the way, a small pouch for coins does come in very handy. You'll quickly accumulate lots of 1 and 2 euro coins.
