Monday before Tuesday 11am flight out of fco

Hi, I will be in Rome for 3 days, in hill towns (Orvieto, cortona) for the 2 after. This will leave us with a Monday afternoon and night. I had planned to see Ostia antic and stay there, but was chagrinned to see that the site is closed on Monday's. Any ideas about what to do/where to stay the night before flying back? (I'm a bit nervous about a long journey the morning of my morning flight...but not thrilled at the idea of an airport hotel or backtracking to Rome--picky, i know!)

Tory, In the same situation, I'd probably return to Rome the night before your flight (I also replied to your other Thread about "hill towns"). While it would be possible to get to the airport from Orvieto in time, it would mean a VERY early morning and any disruptions could make you late for the flight. I'd prefer the more "definite" approach of staying in Rome. I'd stay in the Termini area for easy access to transportation, and then take the Leonardo Express to the airport. What type of accommodations do you prefer? There are some nice Hotels in that area, but you might also consider a Hostel if you're trying to keep the cost down. Cheers!

I'm with Ken, stay near Termini. There are multiple ways to get to FCO from Termini, including the Leonardo Express. You can trade a little time for money, up to you. We used the conventional trains/metro when we arrived and took the bus that runs at 4 am when we left Is it possible to spend two nights in Rome, 3 in hill towns, then one last night in Rome? That is sort of how we did it on our first trip two years ago. Have fun!

Thanks, I've seen the ron in Rome link before & know the Rome-fco routes, I guess I'm more focused in finding an alternative to staying in Rome the night before a flight. Sounds like I may need to reconsider though... Thanks
