Looking to stay in a Monastery or Convent. Recommandations?
Check out the Casa Di' Santa Brigida which is located on the Piazza Farnese in the Campo di' Fiore neighborhood. We stayed there in 2008 and tried again for our most recent trip, but they were all booked. It is on the expensive side (190 euros in 2008) but most of Rome is. The convent is beautifully decorated with shining marble floors and black wrought iron. The rooms are large with very nice private bathrooms. You can only get twin beds, though. It is perfectly located for walking all over Rome.
These are two of Rick's recommended sites for picking monasteries & convents:
Cheri I can recommend Villa Rosa convent as 4 of us ladies stayed in a quad room May 6 - 12 with private bath. The rate was 140 euros per night, per room & the 4 of us split the cost, so it is very inexpensive considering accomodations in Rome. I would definately stay there again.
