We are trying to find a moderately priced hotel in central Rome. Because of medical conditions we need a hotel with a few steps or an elevator. Suggestions please.
First, define moderate. One persons moderate is someone's expensive -- and you are in Rome.
The previous poster made a cogent point. We can help you if you give us dollar amounts. Moderate is a nebulous term meaning different things to different people. You can begin the research on your own using venere.com and tripadvisor.com. Each sight will provide many hotels in every category, pricing, pictures, map locations, and client reviews.
Buon viaggio,
RB
Hi Gail - While others are debating what moderate means here's my best suggestion to you.
http://www.hotelforte.com/ Located directly at the Spanish Steps the Hotel is excellent and easy access to The Trevi Fountain, Via veneto and The Roman Forum thus reducing greatly your taxi expenses and therefore making it very moderately priced!!!
Ciao, Greg
That is why people are asking about moderate because some would consider Forte alttle higher than moderate
I would have to agree with David...nearly $300 a night would be "expensive" by our family's standards.
Yikes,, that is not moderate by my familys defination either!
I would agree that every request for a hotel recommendation should have a Dollar Range that is acceptable to the OP.
We need that just as a starting point.
The other more elusive aspect of any lodging, is whether the price represents
a true value of what one receives for that price range. This is hard because all reviews are personal opinions. Some people WANT luxury when they are on vacation. Some people, like my wife and I, don't really want luxury, we just want a clean, safe, central place for our stuff and a private place to crash after a long day out seeing sights.
So our Moderate price might not match another person's Moderate price.
Moderate for us is 65 to 110 euros/night with private bath and breakfast.
Greg of Palm Beach says that the hotel is well located "thus reducing your taxi expenses" and making it moderately priced". Excuse me, but does everyone take taxis in Rome rather than less expensive public transportation? (Note to self: stand by for angry PM)
I hear you Norma!
