Modena Italy to Venice Airport

How early have you found the train to go to Venice.

Venice has many stations, Venezia Mestre is closest to the airport. On Trenitalia's site put a day of travel before December 14 when you make a search.

Your tour guide will give you up to date instructions on the best way to get there.

Train does not go all the way to VCE
Train from Modena to Mestre will take 2-3 hours with a change in Bologna (allow plenty of time here as it is a large station with multiple levels)

No way would I try to leave Modena the morning of your departure flight
You will need to be at airport by 8 am for an 11 am departure
Consider adding nights at end in Venice or Bologna

A driver will be pricey as it is over a 2 hour drive -300 euro?

Could you book a flight out of Bologna? The airport is really easy to get to from Modena.

I hope you have not already booked the 11AM flight for the morning of the day the tour ends.

Modena to VCE is almost 200km. A car service will have to travel 400km , so I think the estimate of 300euro is probably optimistic. My observation has been long distance rides usually cost close to a euro per km that the driver has to drive to get you to your destination and him back to 'home'.

If the flight is already booked and unchangeable, I think the better option is to see how late the trains leave Modena to determine if you will be able to attend the farewell dinner or have to skip it

My risk tolerance is such that I would not spend the night in Modena when I had an 11AM flight out of VCE.

We shared a van between 6 people and it was $90 per passenger. No way you can make it to Venice airport for an 11 am flight via train. I don’t think the trains even leave early enough. If you do get a driver leave plenty of time to get to the Venice airport because there were traffic slow downs in different areas.

So a 6 person van is $540
It would be less expensive to train to Mestre leaving Modena as late as 9 pm the night before flight ( a bit over 2 hour journey)
Get a hotel there and take the bus to VCE in the am

Or see if flight out of Bologna works-it won’t be direct to US
