Modena -- inexpensive places to stay

My teen-aged daughter and I are visiting Italy in March. We're doing some art and history sightseeing combined with her interest in modern Italy things like fashion, soccer (in particular A.C. Milan) and cars. She wants to visit the Ferarri museum and I'm thinking of finding a place to stay in Modena. Any suggstions?

We're trying to keep costs down and so far have reservations at the Beehive in Rome and the youth hostel in Milan.

Thanks,

Pat:

In the fall of 2007 we stayed just between Modena and Maranello (where the Ferrari museum is located) in the little village of Castelvetro. We stayed at Locanda Del Feudo (you can find their website via google or trip advisor. The place only has eight rooms (all suites). It is run by two young brothers. It is very clean and comfortable. It is very reasonable - the food is out of this world - we were there on a Saturday night and it seemed like the whole village was there for dinner. Our only regret was that we spent just one night there. I recommend it highly. Have fun.

Thanks for the input, both of you.

The inn sounds divine but since we're basically stopping in on our way to the museum, 30 euros for two beds in the Modena hostel rather than 110 euros for a double room at the inn seems the best bet for us. After we visit the museum, we'll continue on to the Cinque Terre for two nights.

Also, I'm not sure whether the train would take us to Castelvetro? We're flying into Rome and then touring by train and flying home from Milan.

This trip is part of my daughter's homeschool program this year and we are all about saving money rather than vacationing. She had a student tour booked but it was cancelled so now Mom has been elected tour director! I've only stayed in hostels a couple of times (in Canada) and my 50 year old back is going to be sorry, I'm sure. Still, I am looking forward to this adventure.

Thanks again,
Pat
