Mobile Data in Italy

Will a TIM SIM data card work with my Verizon Jetpack? (MiFi 5510L) Or will I have to purchase a new MiFi in Italy? I haven't been able to find the answer on the internet.

I'm not an expert, but I would Check their tech specs and also call Novatel tech support

First of all is the devise blocked or unblocked by Verizon? Unless you fully paid for the device, it's probably blocked for at least 2 years of the contract. Check that with Verizon.

Reading the specs, it appears the devise uses the CDMA mobile technology. Europe uses GSM. Also the frequency bands need to be compatible with the ones used in EU. Not sure if you device is a quad band.

Having a European SIM card for data sometimes isn't the cheapest option. Verizon has gotten better with their international data plan and if you use it sparingly and try to use wifi (at your hotel, cafes, some parks, etc) as much as you can you could easily survive with their data plan. If you do want to get a SIM card for your phone you do need to make sure it is unlocked and even with that we do get feedback from quite a few travelers about their unlocked US phone still not working with a European sim-card.
