Where is a good place to stay in Minori, Italy?
How's the best way to get there from Catania, Sicily on Sept 26, 2025?
Hello lindylbess, and welcome to the forum,
Unfortunately getting from the island to the Amalfi coast will be a bit of a production as the AC is not well served by mass transit. You don't say when you're travelling but there are seasonal flights (roughly July to September I believe) from Catania to Naples and maybe even the newly reopened Salerno airport and these will get you as close as a flight can.
Check the forum for all the discussions of AC transfers from Naples or Salerno but it will require a transfer from the airport to the train or ferry station and then transfer to Minori. Salerno is closer and probably easier but is less well served than the bigger Naples airport. Salerno airport transfer to the train station to catch a bus or the ferry station to catch a ferry to Minori itself.
Additionally there are probably ferry options from Sicily to the mainland but these will be very long and probably best done overnight. There is also train service that connects Sicily to the mainland but this is probably 7 hours between Catania and Salerno so the "best" way to get there depends on what you're looking for. Unless you find some excellent transfer options you might consider staying a night or two somewhere along the way to break up the travel day rather than trying to do it all at once.
Hope that helps,

Lindylbess--
First, you need to inform us when you want to go from Catania to Minori. But assuming your trip is far enough out that you can find lodging there, then here's an adventurous option, and I know about it only because we are doing the same thing, going the opposite way in a couple months and are already booked.
Take the Trenitalia, leaving Catania at 8:52 AM. At Messina, the train car will be shuttled onto a ferry and will take you across the Strait of Messina to Villa San Giovanni. From there the train will take you up through Calabria and then into Campania, arriving at Salerno at 3:34 PM. I just looked, and this can be booked for next week at 33.90 Euro per person. FYI mid-April we are taking that same line south from Salerno on the train ferry, and arriving at Taormina in Sicily, which is about an hour north of Catania.
What makes it an adventure is that this train/ferry is the last one left in Europe--I think they run it twice daily,--it only takes 20 minutes and looks like a lot of fun. From Salerno to Minori, there is the SITA public bus, and I'm not sure if the ferry runs directly to Minori or lets you off in Amalfi-town. If it were I, by saving money on the train ride, I'd splurge on a driver to take me directly to Minori. If interested in that, PM me for a recommendation--we're using this driver service one day while staying in Salerno on a tour of the Amalfi Coast--starting by shopping in Vietri sul Mare, then up to Ravello for lunch, finishing it off at supposedly the best pastry place on the Amalfi Coast--Sal De Riso in Minori!
Enjoy your planning!
I would appreciate you sharing your drivers name with me (not.sure how to PM)
Just sent you a PM. Go to 'Travel Forum' at the top right pull down menu and it should come up.
