I think you'll have to change trains at Milan to get to Venice, so try that route for the Trenitalia site and just buy the shuttle ticket from Malpensa to Milan (it's only a few euro).

The ticket from the airport into the city is on a regional train and not available for the mini discount. Just use the milan centrale station as the start point and Venice s.l. as your station. This should show you the mini fares. Be cautious about buying mini fares. If you intend to use the train on the day of arrival from the States it's not a good idea to buy a mini fare. If your plane is late your mini fare will be worthless. Donna

I was just looking at the mini fare from Milan to Venice. It's 9Euro. Not bad. As mentioned above, the regionale train from the airport is preventing you from seeing this. Since you will need to change trains at Milan Centrale, just buy your ticket online from Milan to Venice Mestre. Just allow enough time for your plane to be late, and about 30 minutes to take the regionale train in from the airport. Note that you might be able to buy this paritcular Regionale train ticket online as well. I do see it for sale. You want the runs with the 7Euro fare. The runs with the 11Euro fare is a different train. Watch out if you are trying to book beyond the middle of December. Trenitalia updates their schedules then and if you're looking beyond, the schedules are often kaflooey and confusing. You can also can simply buy the ticket for the Regionale train to Milan at Malpensa. Don't worry about full trains. The Regionale is like a bus. No reservations permitted and you can stand if necessary.

Larry, I believe you are looking way far out, like 60 days. Monique is departing the US on Oct. 16, if I remember correctly. That means she is arriving on the 17th and traveling that day to Venice. The only mini fares I see for that day are 26 euro on the EC train and 29 euro on the ES. Regular fare is 32,50 so this is not much of a saving. To my mind it it not worth the gamble of trying to pick the right train and allow for late flights, etc. I agree with Donna that she should buy tickets when she arrives and knows which train she can catch.
