MilanoCard

We will be spending two days in Milan and traveling to and from Milpensa airport. The Milano Card offers what appear to be good transportation benefits and discounts on other activities. Has anyone had experience using it?
Thanks,
Marty

I remember reading various reviews calling it a scam. The main reasons were:

  • A 48 hours transit pass costs only € 8.25 and all tobacconists and newsstands sell it. The 24h version costs € 4.5.
  • A 90 minutes transit ticket costs only 1.5 €. It lets you travel on all tram and buses with free transfers in any direction, plus one entry to the subway system.
  • you must be very lucky to grab the discounted entrance tickets included in the MilanoCard: most museums are not free for card holders, like the Ambrosiana Library where you just get a 33% discount only on Wednesdays. The Sforza Castle is listed as one of the participating museums, but when you click to learn more, it says "no discounts for card holders at the moment"

The site is built not to let you easily understand what's actually free and how many discounted tickets there are.
