Milano to Vernazza

First time posting here :-)
I am planning my trip to Italy for 3 weeks in Mid April. I am trying to find out the best way to get from Milan to Vernazza. I see that there is 8am train with connection in Levanto. Train arrives in Levanto at 10:58 and next train from Levanto to Vernazza is at 11:05. My question is, is do I have enough time in between to catch the train? Do I have to change platforms?

Is there a better route?

Thanks

No, this is the best route. Your train to Levanto may indeed arrive late, but if you miss your connection, just take the next regional train on to Vernazza. Trains that stop in Vernazza are "locals" - so you need to change trains in Levanto, Monterosso, etc. (where the faster trains stop too) to transfer to a local. There should be plenty of trains on to Vernazza.

I don't recall if you need to change platforms at Levanto. It's a small station - maybe three platforms total. There are only two tracks, one going north one south. The train to Vernazza goes in the same direction (south) as the one you'll get off of, but I'm not sure if it will use the platform on the opposite side of the track.

If you have a smart phone, install the Trenit app on it. It will tell you real-time platform info, arrival info, etc. so you'll know even before you get off in Levanto which platform your next train arrives on, whether it is late, etc.

Thank you very much for your reply. So when buying ticket should I buy up to levanto and buy seperate ticket for Vernazza when I get to Levanto? Not sure if my ticket would be valid if in case I were to miss my connection.
Thanks

No need to buy separate tickets. Your ticket on to Vernazza would be valid if you miss your connection . That second train would be a regional train, and those tickets are good for up to four hours after the original time of departure (on other regional trains, anyway). Only regional trains stop at Vernazza.
