We will be arriving in Linate in May, & have never been there; need some good info on getting to our b&b. We will have 2 bags, & jet lag...are buses ok, or is a taxi better? How much should it cost?
Thanks. Laura
Laura,
There is a bus, 'Air Bus' that can take you from Linate Airport to Milan's Central Station for €5 & it takes about 25 minutes.
Here is the website for the Air Bus: http://www.atm.it/en/AltriServizi/Trasporto/Pages/airbus.aspx
You may also want to contact the B&B & they may be able to give you best option to get there.
Safe travels!
It depends on where your B&B is. The bus takes you to the stations, but if your B&B is far from it and you end up taking a taxi anyway from the station, then you might as well take a taxi directly from the airport. Linate is only 8 km (5 miles) from the city center. There is no flat taxi fare from Linate, so the total cost depends on the traffic because it's based on the taxi meter. I would estimate a total taxi fare from 25 to 35 euro, depending on distance and traffic traveled, including everything. For 2 or more people it might be the better option, especially with luggage.
Urban buses #73 and #X73 (express bus) go to S.Babila where you can switch to M1 underground line on the same ticket. But if you have heavy or bulky luggage a taxi is better.
I agree with Roberto's advice: bags + jet lag + lack of familiarity with Milan + close-in airport + more than one person = taxi from Linate, hands down.
In addition, look at your B&B's website; they usually have information about getting there from the airports, train stations, etc.
Milan's Metro system is very efficient and easy to use - once you're not encumbered by your luggage.
