Have you tried Viator? We loved their half day tour of Milan, which included a bus tour, a walking tour & a guided visit to see The Last Supper. Our guide was excellent & the price was very good.

If you only want to see Leonardo's Last Supper, there are ticket brokers that may still have tickets without a tour of Milano. I have used Select Italy several times. There will be a markup but not nearly what an unwanted tour will cost. You'll receive a voucher within minutes.

Patrice, just to let you know, Viator is a broker of sorts, they market tours from all different companies.....do you know which one you took? that might help rsucci make her decision...

but I am taking a few walks of Italy tours on my trip in 2 weeks! I have heard good things, so it should go well!

Thank you for all your responces. I have tried just about everyone including brokers and cant seem to find tickets. This was the ONLY one avail for last supper :( I prefer to DIY and buy skip the line tickets but boyfriend wants to learn some history :)
The only place I did not try that might have tickets is calling direct CENACOLO VINCIANO but I am not sure how to call italy nor the cost involved from a cell phone.

We are also hoping to book rome colosseum underground at night so looking for suggestions there as well as other tours in rome, venice, and florence. also heading to verona....is this a good DIY?

sorry have TONS of questions. never been to foreign country before and trying to do all this ourselves since tours booked and late notice off work ;( decided to do this anyway because you never know what next year brings and then i will NEVER get to italy.

What date are you looking for? Late summer dates are not available yet. I think your best bet is to take the Walks of Italy tour, they get very good reviews.

may 23. we arrive 6am and tour starts at 1pm. prob is we MUST catch last train avail at 630pm to Sirmione. Many adviced that we can more than likely get tickets day of arrival but our luck we wont :) so a tour would be a guarantee

just booked a few tours with them and if you tell them you are a Rick Steves reader they give you $$ off your tours.

Especially with your tight times, I would never count on the walk up by luck maybe they have a few approach.

Over the years I tried that twice and failed both times. I called them and was able to arrange it the third time.

I don't have any idea how much your particular mobile contract charges for calls to Italy. It might be good to ask them. You certainly could use Skype for not much money when you are in a good wifi zone if you have a smartphone or other device.

Thank you everyone. We have decided to go with Walks of Italy tour. We are doing this trip mostly as a DIY and then adding in booked tours at different locations (milan, venice, rome, etc). We had to do it this way because many actual extended tours were booked since we had late notice of vacation dates from work. ;( Plus this way we do a little on our own and some booked tours. Yes A LOT MORE RESEARCH NECESSARY...so please dont strangle me with all my questions :) We are figuring out city by city and asking questions as we plan ;) Thanks again everyone!!!

ps so far Milan in a.m. on our own then tour afternoon. then heading to sirmione.

2nd day: explore sirmione, then verona, then late arrival to venice
3rd day: venice 1st day self tours with RS audio: basilica, doges, frari church etc

4th day: venice grand canal cruise then late head to florence.......now more planning tomorrow

We had similar good experience with them in Florence. I would be willing to try them in Milan.

I have taken several tours with Walks of Italy, and it is an excellent tour company. In general, certified tour guides in major Italian cities are extremely knowledgeable and very personable. You will be in good hands, so relax and just be sure to be at the indicated place on time. You have some full and tiring initial days scheduled, especially since it seems you are arriving on a long flight early that morning. Do try to get some sleep on the plane, even so you may well feel some jet-lag and out-of-synch when you arrive. After you get into Milano Centrale and leave your bags at the luggage storage ("deposito bagagli"), you might want to stay outside by taking a nice walk in downtown Milano, then have an early lunch, maybe inside the beautiful Galeria near the Duomo. Be sure to leave enough time in your schedule in case there is a line when you check or pick-up your bags.
