Milan- Tour of La Scala

We're planning to go in April, and the tour is advertised through many companies. Each lists the same start time and about the same price. That makes me think they're all selling a tour the opera house puts on.

  • Are there any companies in particular you'd favor or avoid?
  • Have people here enjoyed the tour?
  • Do you have any tips for getting the most from it?

Thanks!

PS: We're also doing one of the 3 hour tours that includes Last Supper (doesn't seem like a scam to us) Any companies you'd recommend?

Did the La Scala tour by ourselves. With a little reading beforehand we enjoyed it at our own pace. They even gave us a senior discount (I guess we are showing our age) without even asking. There is a Groms right down the street, make sure you stop by after the visit.

Go directly to La Scala. http://www.teatroallascala.org/en/discover/museum/visit.html
Scroll down for info and phone numbers to call for information.
We actually got a rundown from our guide on our Last Supper/city walking tour a year ago. He explained that the tour companies were trying to just that, but the rehearsal schedule at La Scala was such that they did not have any regular tour times. Going direct, they will be able to give you schedules. You can always visit the museum, and attend a performance. We went to a La Scala Symphony performance.
