My GF and I are thinking about a northern Italy trip this September and we would like to include a side trip to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn. Has anyone done this using public transportation and if so what does it involve? Any tips or suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance,
RDJ
A little under four hours by train with two changes. See:
Definitely NOT a day trip, by the way. You need to plan on at least 2 nights there and 3 is better. The longer you stay the better chance you'll have of actually getting a good sunny day so you can see the mountain.
