Milan to Vogagna (near Lake Maggiore)

We land in Milan's Linate Airport April 30..... I assume they operate similar to Malpense with bus/trains to Milan Centrale station. As far as I can tell from ItaliaRail...there is a train (no changes) to within a couple of towns of Vogagna. Here's my concern: Do we (5 adults w/luggage) try to take the train and then rent a car at the last stop before Vogogna? Or do we just rent a car in Milan and drive up there (since we will need it to do day trips and return to Milan to catch the train to Firenze in 1 weeks time) ? I believe we all get into Linate around 3:45 pm and what with baggage etc..... just really concerned about how to proceed. Any thoughts suggestions would be appreciated!

What time of year? That can limit your options. Also, another trick I've learned for those "How do we get there" questions, is to find the website of a hotel in your destination and see if they lay out your options.

"I assume they operate similar to Malpense with bus/trains to Milan Centrale station." Buses, yes; trains, no. You can take a bus to Milan Central Station, or a bus to a Metro station; it's also close to the city, so a taxi isn't prohibitive. But that's to Milan itself, not to your final destination. Here's the official airport website with transit options: Link. I agree with Michael; start with your hotel's website, and if they don't have the needed info, e-mail them directly for advice. You won't be the first people who need to get from Linate to their hotel, and they'll know the best options.

First of all, thank you to the folks who've replied! However, we are NOT staying in a hotel... we are staying in a house via VRBO. Hence, my concern. I have contacted the owner (in USA) for more specific recommendations, but thought I'd try this forum. Getting from airport to train station is not my issue. My issue is, rent a car in Milan and drive to Vogagna or take the train, which does not go all the way to Vogogna and try to rent a car at the end of the line. The train comes w/in 10 miles of Vogogna and we've been unable to ID a car rental facility nearby. If you think this makes the point moot, based your experiences...?

It looks like Vogogna, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, to Domodossola is only about 14 km and I would expect there would be a possibility there. Domodossola is easy to reach from Centrale and other Milanese stations.
