I will be traveling from Milan to Venice with my handicapped husband who uses a walker. In the past we have taken the Malpensa Express to Milan Centrale and then the train to Venice. Is there another way (other than flying) to make the trip easier for him?
That works. Be sure to get one of the Trenitalia Frecciarossa trains or Italo high-speed trains (2.5 hours) from Milano Centrale that has no change of trains all the way to Venezia Santa Lucia train station.
If money is not a concern, you can hire a private driver. Quick Google search showed the price MXP to Venice is about €450.
I’ve taken the train twice. But can’t tell you how accessible it is for someone who is handicapped. Which brings up another question: how are you going to maneuver through Venice with it’s bridges? It sounds like you have been to Venice before so you know the city.
