Can I order tickets online for Milan central to Venice? Do I print them on my home printer? Do I need a specific time?
Or can I get tickets for boarding at all times during the day we get there?

The answer to the first thee questions is 'Yes."
If you are not ready to lock in a date and time, do not buy a ticket online; buy it in the station when you know which train you can catch, since medium-speed and faster trains on this route are sold as reserved tickets only. Slower regional trains are not a common choice on this route and booking that type of ticket online also adds restrictions to them.See also http://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/buying-tickets.
When arriving from the airport, where in the station is the ticket office located? We will probably use the office as opposed to a kiosk. We have heard pickpockets are a problem at Milan Central. Thanks for the help!
