Milan to Tirano train not open from December 14

Hi we are traveling from Milan to Tirano on December 16 to start our Swiss trip with the Bernia express. I have been trying to look for the Milan Tirano train since the last month on several websites including the below/Trainline and Trenord. But that train is only showing until December 14 and not from the next day.

Originally I thought it will open up only within 30 days but now that we are within that window it’s still not showing.

Can someone please help if I still need to wait , or if this train is not available from December 15. Thanks

The schedule is adjusted on Dec 14. This happens twice a year (also in June) and most regional trains in Italy are technically not on the schedule until these dates. There will be trains, probably on exactly the same schedule. Since they are regional trains with no reservations and the price is always the same, there is no advantage to booking ahead of time.

Italy does this to terrorize tourists, since locals know this happens twice a year and are used to it :-). The actual reason is due to negotiations between regional governments and rail operators, and like all negotiations, they go down to the wire. The cost of your train ticket is partially subsidized by Italian tax payers, so be sure to thank them.

Got it thanks Sam . Will look at the current schedule and will plan to directly go to Milano central and book tickets to Tirano
