Milan to Parma

Hello all! My fiance and I are taking our first ever trip to Italy from March 15th - March 30th. We have all our hotels and train tickets booked and are very excited for this journey.

My question is as follows. We are scheduled to arrive at Milan Linate Airport at 5:55 pm March 15th and have a train to Parma scheduled at 8:05 pm. We plan on taking a taxi from the airport to Milan central station which says is about 15 minutes. Is it the opinion of this group that 2 hours is ample time to get from the airport to the train station? Neither of us have been to Europe and aren't familiar with how long it might take to get through customs and retrieve our checked bag. We will be flying in from Heathrow in London via Seattle, Washington.

Thanks everyone in advance! Cheers!

I'm sure you're excited with your upcoming trip! Welcome to the Forum!
Since COVID, there has been an increase in flight delays and cancelations. You can check Flight Aware to research the on-time history of your flights. My last two international flights had significant delays- one 24 hrs, and one six hours. With a six hour delay, we landed in Munich after 11p. I was so happy that we had not planned to go on to another destination on that first day.
If your flight is delayed, you need a Plan B. Personally, I would stay in Milan the first night.
Fyi-You will go thru passport control, not customs.
Safe travels!

Thanks, Pat! We are going to plan for the best and assume flights will be on time. It could be delayed up to two hours and we would still be fine getting to Parma for our hotel. That being said, we're both good at making the best of a bad situation so if all else fails we'll find something cheap that night in Milan and adjust our schedule accordingly. Cheers!

It will be tight but I think you will make it. Linate is a smaller airport than Malpensa. Just gotta hustle!

Is the 8:05 the last train to Parma for the night? Good idea to have a hotel close to the Milan train station in mind just in case.

No, there are trains almost every hour till 22:13, but the last 2 trains depart from Milano Porta Garibaldi station.

The 20:05 is the last expensive train to Parma; it's a Freccia train, more expensive and faster than the Intercity on that route.
