Visiting Italy 9/30 - 10/24, flying into Milan, from there to Lake Como, Venice/Verona, Bologna, Florence/Siena, Amalfi Coast and fly home from Naples. Will not be visiting Rome as I have been there numerous times. I'm kind of all over the place. We will primarily take trains and probably spend the most time (5days) in Tuscan area. any suggestions of where we should base (ex. Amalfi, Positano,Sorrento) would be great.

RE Amalfi Coast base: It depends on what you want to see and do when you get there. If taking multiple day trips in either direction and preferring to unpack once, then Sorrento; if just hanging around the Amalfi Coast villages, then any village on the Travelmar ferry line, or Atrani since it is a short walk away.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm also deciding if staying in Florence, Sienna, or Cinque Terre would be best for the five days in Tuscany the to Amalfi. Any suggestion for the 5 days. Would like to relax maybe hire a driver 1 day. Not sure what town to stay in.

It really depends on your goals for the week. I would not travel all the way to CT from Florence, but I see that others often do.
