We are planning to take a train for a day trip from Milan to Lugano. Is there a town that is recommended to stop along Lake Como to visit?

Como is the only town on Lake Como that is on the train line between Milan and Lugano. The station, Como San Giovanni, is on the side of a hill above the town, not on the lake.

You will have plenty of lake, and a similar landscape (but not the same lake), at Lugano. For better views, on the train sit on the right side.
