I have 5 days between Mialn and meeting friends in Firenze. I have already been to the Cinque Terre and Lakes areas. I was thinking about Portofino and Margherita. I will be going in mid-June so am anticipating hoards of tourists. Any suggestions on an itinerary and places to stay. I am planning on taking the train immediately out of Milan south.

Jana, Well its not south, but I'd suggest the Dolomites. We stayed in Castelrotto; others here will suggest Ortisei. And visit the Ice Man in Bolzano on your way. Have a great trip.
Does it have to be the Ligurian coast? How about a couple of nights in Verona,,then Bolognanor Ravenna?
