We going to be in Milan for one day. We are trying to plan the day to see specific sites and would like to know how much time we need for each site. The sites we will visit are: Brera Gallery, Duomo, Castello Sforzesco. And can you tell us what time the shops on a tuesday close in the Quadrilatero D'oro? Thanks so much in advance! You guys have helped us so much on past trips and this trip! Tom
Tom, how much time depends on how quickly you want to move through the sites. Castello Sforzesco is quite large, and the Parco Sempione would make a nice break for an hour or so. I would think two hours in each of the places you mention would be adequate, plus travel time. If you like to linger at castles and museums, plan for 2.5 or 3 hours. I've seen people rush past me at the Brera, checking things off their list, in an hour or less (my estimate). You can take an elevator to the roof of the Duomo, which adds a little time but a lot of memorable views to your day. Shops tend to close at about 1pm and reopen at 4 or so. Some shops do remain open or close for a shorter time period.
