We’ve been to Italy several times but this will be our first visit to Milan. Planning four nights to include day trips to Como and possibly Parma by train. Hotel suggestions would be appreciated! Milan seems very vast with numerous neighborhoods so not sure which to choose. Definitely something close to bars/cafes and transportation.

I am very fond of Hotel Berna near Milano Centrale. Super great access to Metro and trains, great breakfast spread, good rates for Milan.

I second the recommendation for Hotel Berna. We've been to Milano many times and always stay there. It is first rate and they serve the best breakfast in Milano..
A few restaurants we like nearby are Osteria Mama Rosa down the street in Piazza Cincinnatus, Antico Osteria Cavalini, Ristorante Settembrini 18. The linguine with clams at Osteria Mama Rosa is my favorite in all of Italy.

I will add my recommendation for Hotel Berna! I stayed there 2 nights in Oct. 2016. Very nice staff and clean comfortable rooms. Plus, close to the Centraal train station. It is also in walking distance of many restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed Milan.

UNA Maison Milano- I always stay there. The front desk is very accomodating, the rooms are impeccable, and it is spitting distance from the Duomo, a short walk to shopping and a 5-10 minute walk to Sforza Castle. Love it!!
Don;t forget to have dinner at Piz!

Last week we stayed at Hotel Star near the Duomo and LaScala. It was very clean and pretty quiet. The staff was very helpful with suggestions for nearby restaurants and transportation. A substantial breakfast is included.
It's 4 stops on the metro to Milano Centrale, where you'll get the train to Lake Como (my new favorite place on earth.) Enjoy!

Hotel Berna is our vote. We've stayed there many, many times and it's always been the best. The property is extremely clean, the staff is very professional and friendly, and their breakfast is the best in Milan. It's located about 400 meters directly in front of the Stazione Centrale on Via Napo Torriano.

We stay at Antica Locanda Leonardo near The Last Supper. Set back in a garden, quiet rooms. Walk or tram to Duomo area.
