milan subway travel to get from Lampugnano Bus Station to Milano Centrale

I appear to have chosen a complicated travel itinerary. I am finishing up a hiking trip in the Aosta Valley on September 12. I am looking at Rome2Rio and need some clarification. I'll be leaving from Morgex, taking a bus to Aosta, then another bus to the Autostazione Lampugnano. So far, so good. My ultimate destination is Varenna-Esino-Perledo on Lake Como.

It looks like I need to take two subway rides from the bus station to get to Milano Centrale for the train to Varenna-Esino-Perledo.

One question is whether the Lampugnano subway station is next to or near the Lampugnano bus station? Rome2Rio says there is 49 minutes of transfer time which doesn't make sense unless I have to walk a great distance as subways come all the time.

Once I find the subway stop, I take a subway from the Lampugnano stop to Cordusio. At Cordusio, I have to transfer from a red line subway to a yellow line subway, finding the Duomo subway stop, which then gets me to Milano Centrale. Rome2Rio says this takes 9 minutes of walking. If I succeed at dealing with the two subway trips, how far is the Centrale FS subway stop from the actual train station where I can catch the train to Varenna-Esino-Perledo. Actually, I will take the train to Lecco and it looks like I transfer to a bus in Lecco, as the Lecco to Varenna-Esino-Perledo train line is closed for repairs on September 12.

When I return to Milan on the 15th, it looks like the train will be reopened so at least that will be simpler.

My overall question is whether this is something that looks complicated from a far, but whether when I actually am there, it will be straightforward.

I need to know the times to buy the right train ticket from Milano Centrale to Lecco/Varenna-Esino-Perledo.

A friend suggested I take a taxi from the bus station to Milano Centrale but I am not ready to give up my mindset to use public transportation when possible.

My thanks to whomever is familiar with the subway system in Milan.

That train is a Regional
No need to purchase tickets in advance so you don’t need to know a specific time
Trains can’t sell out, price never changes

Rome2rio is a fun tool but not always accurate or complete info
Use the actual metro site, bus site, train site or even Google maps for best info

Here's a partial answer on the subway piece. The Lampugnano bus station is right adjacent to the Lampugnano Metro stop; if you don't see the Metro station immediately, ask someone. It is all in the same complex. Then once at Lampugnano Metro, you take the red line to Cordona (note spelling) and there you change to the green line to go 5 stops I think to the Centrale station. Cordona is a railway station too, so this is not an obscure stop and not one where there will be no one around. See https://www.atm.it/en/ViaggiaConNoi/Biglietti/Pages/HowtogetaroundMilanbypublictransport.aspx for more.

Please note spelling: CADORNA
You can transfer to the green line at Cadorna; if you prefer to transfer to the yellow line, the transfer station is not Cordusio but Duomo and the walk is wholly internal to the station.
