Milan, Sicily, Positano - March 2023

Hi,
Traveling with my daughter (age 25) for a tour of Sicily in March. We are flying to Milan and want to spend 2 days in Milan prior to traveling to Palermo for tour start. After tour ends, we want to spend a couple of days in Positano before returning to the US. Would like your recommendations on what not to miss in Milan (besides Duomo) or ideas for day trip from Milan such as to Lake Como area. Also, would like to see your suggestions for things to do in Positano/Amalfi coast in 2 days. Thank you so much!
Summary:
Arrive in Milan from US
Spend 2 full days in Milan
Fly to Palermo for tour (8 days)
Fly to Naples after tour from Catania
Spend 2 full days in Positano/Amalfi coast
Return to US from Naples
Thanks!

While in Milan don't miss the Last Supper. Tickets go fast so book as soon as you can.
Lake Como day trip will take a full day so with only 2 nights in Milan and first day being jet lagged, that's not a lot of time.

If at all possible try to add a night or 2 to the end of your trip. It will take you most of the day to get from Catania to Naples to Positano. Then just 2 nights there means really just 1 full day. You will need to be IN Naples the night before your flight home to USA unless your flight is very late in the day. It's too far/too risky to try to get to Naples airport from the Amalfi coast.
March is a bit early there as well, ferries will not be running.

There’s a lot to do in Milan and on arrival day it’s best to stay on your feet. What I like about Milan are the sights are nearby the central train station; this means you hop on a direct train from Malpensa (MXP) airport to Milano Centrale and a taxi to your hotel. Chances are your hotel room or Airbnb won’t be ready, so leave your luggage where you are staying and visit the duomo; afterwards your room will probably be ready.
It’s best to get refreshed and then walk over to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. I was there in Mar one year and the display inside was a mound of stiletto heels in every shade of pastel you can imagine; I wanted a pair in every color.
A stroll past the La Scala Opera House and Sforza Castle is worthwhile before ending the day with a hearty meal in the Brera neighborhood before climbing into bed by 9p. The next morning visit Leonardo Davinci’s The Last Supper. Timed entry tickets are mandatory so buy them before leaving home.
Afterwards explore the quadrilateral where the high-end fashion store window displays will feature the spring shade that will be popular in 2023. When I was there it was an ugly green that grew on me and when I got home, I bought slacks in that color that went with everything.
I don’t recommend Lake Como because you don’t have time. You need two nights in Milan to include Varenna and Bellagio on Lake Como.
I agree with Christine about traveling from Catania to Positano will take a full day. If possible, take a bus from Positano to Amalfi and a ferry back.
