I will be in Milan in June 2010, and I have been trying to research information about the famous cathedral in Milan. I read something in Rick's Italy 2010 book about the church possibly being closed. I'm trying to find a Web site for the cathedral or something that might tell me tourist information about it. I have done searches on the internet, but is there another way to go about finding that information?
The Duomo (including the roof) is open. It's the museum in the basement that was or possibly still is closed.

Thank you! That Web site was just what I was looking for!
Be sure to go up on the roof of the Duomo and wander around. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Milan.
Oh, I plan to! I will only be there for a day, so how much time do you think you spent at the duomo?
It takes a couple of hours to snoop around on the roof. Maybe an hour inside if you've seen lots of cathedrals already and are only looking at what appears to be different.
Be sure to apply for tickets way in advance. We were there last summer and did not and could not go in.
Thanks for the information; I'll make sure and plan a few hours for the duomo.
Thanks, John, for letting me know that! That must have been so unfortunate. I would be heart broken if I couldn't go inside.
How do you apply for tickets? Can you reserve tickets online or something?
I'm not sure what John is referring to. The "cathedral" part of the Duomo is free, and thus no tickets are needed or available.
There is a security check at the entrance, and sometimes lines can form because it, but it usually isn't a big deal.
Ok thank you, Michael!!!
The only reservations I'm aware of is to see DaVinci's The Last Supper.
