We (late 50s american couple) will be visiting Milan in late May. Arriving around noon Sunday on the train from Lake Como. Leaving EARLY the following Wednesday through Malpensa airport to CDG Paris, and then home. Yes, I have read through the Rick Steves snapshot book on Milan and the Lakes District.
Questions:
We of course want to see the Last Supper. That means we need to reserve tickets, either for late in the day Sunday, or on Tuesday, as it is closed on Monday. But I am having difficulty accessing and acquiring tickets through the official website (entirely in Italian) mentioned in the Rick Steves book. Maybe because its too early? Any comments or suggestions, either for utilizing that site or for good alternate strategies for obtaining tickets through a tour? If the latter, what's a good tour to book in terms of the other thing(s) visited on the tour?
We are staying at an apartment in the Navigli district. Any restaurants/activities in that area people particularly recommend?
We will be there on Monday, when most museums and some sites are closed. Any good ideas for how to spend a worthwhile day in Milan on a Monday?
As I mentioned, we are leaving EARLY Wednesday morning for Malpensa airport. Like leaving our apartment in the Navigli district at 3:30 or 4 in the am to make our 6 am flight to Paris. We absolutely cannot miss that flight. Any suggestions/comments on how best to get to that airport at that hour of the morning?
