Milan question?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has hotel or accomodation suggestions for just one night for a family of 4 (kids ages 9 and 3) in Milan in July. I tried Hotel Berna which has been recommended on this site but they are out of rooms that would fit all of us.

Anything else close to the train station (that takes us to MXP)? Also, for Last Supper tickets, do we have to buy full-price tickets for children? Thanks!

rd,

You could broaden your search for hotels to include the area near the Duomo, as that's close to Milano Cadorna station which provides an even quicker trip to MXP. That would also be a nicer area to spend your last night in Italy as it's close to Via Dante which is a pedestrian street with lots of shops and restaurants.

I don't know if they have rooms that will accommodate four, but if you don't mind a basic two star hotel, you could have a look at Hotel London. Check Trip Advisor or Google Maps for other possibilities.

Across the street from the Berna is the Garda Hotel. I know they have some larger rooms. Breakfast is extra, but the rooms are less expensive than the Berna.

I've stayed at the Garda several times, very nice.

I booked at Hotel Glam. It's right across from the train station. It was slightly more that Berna. I have never stayed there, but the reviews were good on Booking.com, but I did book directly through the hotel's website.

If all else fails, I've stayed at the Hilton. It's about a five minute walk to centrale. It's probably cheaper on weekends but they definitely have rooms with two full or queen sized beds.

I took one of the two airport bus services. It was about an hour ride. The legroom was really tight. If I had to do it again I'd time it to use the train which operates less frequently.

Thanks. Hotel Garda looks perfect but they only allow a max of 3 in a room. But the rooms are so affordable we could get two rooms for the same price as one at Berna.

Does anyone know about kids and tickets to the Last Supper? Do they need one and is it discounted? Also, what is the official website to buy tickets?

Have you looked at Hotel Florida. Near train station and is RS recommended. I stayed there and thought it was good.

It is years since we stayed there, but you may want to check out Hitel Vecchio Milano. Perfect for a short stay. I see it still gets decent reviews.

rddysum, according to the official website, www.vivaticket.it, there's no charge for kids under 18. But don't delay! I just tried to get tickets for July, and for the dates we were going to be there, there is only one slot available. One seat for one time slot. Rats. Tickets for July just became available today, and the first half of the month is already almost completely sold out.

This is why I already booked a tour that includes the Last Supper. It's way more expensive, but there's more included, and we're guaranteed a viewing of the Last Supper.

According to Rick's book, the phone # may be a better way to get tickets, but I haven't tried it. (011-39-02-9280-0360, then select 2 for English speaker.)

Good luck! Oh, if you do book a tour, as we did, there will be a charge for the kids, but reduced.
