Milan on Tuesday. Any suggestions other than Duomo? Castles? Eateries?

I ask because I know people may have their favorites? And I would love to narrow down my ideas. Have you eaten at a place that was a small family restaurant in Milan? Would love a small place...Any names that you went to youselves? Also, would love any eateries in the heart of Milan (tapas) any names that you went to yourselves?

Monique, One small family restaurant you might try is Le Briciole (Via Camperio 17). I dined there one night and found both the food and the service to be fantastic (hopefully that's still the same?). For lots of choices for lunch, you might try the Food Market on the top floor of the La Rinascente stores (right next to Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele). Cheers!

I don't know if it still exists, or even exactly the street it was on, but our hotel recommended the Busy Bee (! in English) Cafe. It was a bizarre place that was downstairs and had a sort of Caribbean vibe to the murals that covered the wall, but the waiter and food were fabulous. We loved it so much we went back the next night. I had their business card for a while and it actually was yellow and black and had a drawing of a bumble bee on it! I guess I could give it a label of funky or quirky, but the caprese salad was the best and the main dishes we had were wonderful. And from all the naysayers about traveling to Milan I expected to hate it, and we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Monique, are you asking about sights as well? In addition to the Duomo, the Galleria is right across the street (great but not cheap shopping, bars on the piazza). Also the Pinacoteca Brera for a really good museum, and the Castello Sforzesco, in a beautiful park. If you want to see the Last Supper fresco in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, you'll need an advance reservation (and don't sign any petitions from the lovely people in the piazza in front of the church, you'll be asked for specific donations - about 20 euro).

Thanks to everyone. We decided to see Duomo and pay 39 euros for a 48 hour pass on the double decker bus thru Milan. It was worth it. And they are so helpful at Zanni Viaggi, when purchasing the tickets. The gal named "Veronica" was showed empathy when my on line tickets at Expedia did not work out as hoped. I ate at "The Bar" www.thebarmilano.com. It is a take away and delivery cafe. All the locals were there! I got a salami with cheese panini and espresso. It was 10 euros for 2 people . Surely a good spend. Via Agnello, 19-20122. I had the best Tiramisu gelato at the fashion district at "Savini" so heavenly I wanted to die and eat more !
