Hello
I had no idea how early one needs to get tickets. So although I looked two months before our visit there was none. I can't afford private tours that charge huge amounts. So I guess there's no chance? Any other Milan attraction I need to get tickets for in advance? We also need to plan our itinerary but that's another thread. Any trucks fir getting the tickets for Last Supper?
Thanks
(Copied from my previous post on this question. ) I had the same problem two years ago, for an early June stay in Milan, My guess is that the tour companies snatch up most of the tickets when they are released, then package them with their tours. I looked on Viator and found numerous options for tours the only day I had available (the chapel is closed on Mondays). I settled on an offering by Florencetown tours, and was delighted by the result. I did not do the walking tour option, just the one hour at the church. It consisted of a pre-entry talk outside the church, about Leonardo and the history of the painting. Then entry into the air lock, followed by our fifteen minutes in front of the painting. The guide provided a wireless audio system. Although all I really wanted was a way to get in to see the painting, the lecture made for a much more enjoyable experience.
In addition to the quarterly release schedule (tickets for May-August went on sale back in mid-March), a limited number of Last Supper tickets are also released every Wednesday at 12:00 PM (noon) Italy time for the following week. You'll have to log on the moment they go on sale to have a chance to get any. Be sure to create an account before attempting to purchase.
When I got my tickets for July the day they went on sale 3/24, I logged in a few minutes early and was put in a Ticketmaster-like queue. 10 minutes in, most early slots were already taken.
