We'll be 2 nights in Milan (apparently during Fashion Week). Since that's not our "world" we'll not be staying in the fashion district. So- - - which areas do you recommended for easy walking to interesting landmarks, nifty restaurants/shops/markets? Arrival and departure will be via train. Thanks!
What about the south side of Milan near the canals: https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Milan.
The Quadrilatero della Moda (Fashion District), roughly the neighborhood just north-east of the Duomo and La Scala Opera house (near Via Monte Napoleone), would be a nice place to stay.
The Fashion Week does not take place there. I think it takes place at the modern futuristic Fashion Hub on Piazza Aulenti, basically in front of the Porta Garibaldi train station.
Others like the area near the Navigli, east of the Porta Genova station.
Thanks All for your suggestions. I appreciate the tips and look forward to our visit in Milan.
Happy travels!!
