I would be grateful for advice on best neighborhoods for a 3-night stay in Milan this coming August. We tend to favor less touristy areas that are well connected via public transportation with areas sites we will want to visit. Walking distance is great too, but we don't mind staying a 15-20 minute metro ride away to enjoy more comfortable holiday rentals on quieter streets with local favorite places to eat in the vicinity. Thank you!
Can you tell us what you are planning to do? Then we will be able to suggest a well-connected neighborhood.
We stayed in what I guess would be the San Marco neighborhood, but basically a block or two off the eastern edge of Sempione Park. Very convenient and I suspect you'll appreciate the leafy shade in and around the park in August.
Sure, mostly we like to walk around scenic squares, visit markets, and sample lots of street food. Yes, we'll go see the Duomo and the Last Supper, but it's more important for us to stay in cool parts of town than be able to get to and from these sites in a few minutes. I hope that helps!
