Milan neighborhood recommendations?

Hi,
My husband and I will spend four nights in Milan in April 2020 and are trying to decide where to stay. We like being near a nice pasticceria, cafes, restaurants, etc. in a walkable historic area that's also close to cultural sites and public transportation. So far it seems like Brera, Navigli, or Ticinese might be good options... Do those sound reasonable, or would you recommend others? We'd rather err on the side of boisterous/urban instead of quiet/boring and plan to rent an apartment (unless there's a good reason to chose a hotel instead).
Thanks,
David.
