There is a bus that travels from MXP to Genoa (Italian spelling: Genova) only one departure per day.

If that doesn't work with your schedule, train (Malpensa Express) or a bus to Centrale.
The train is more expensive than the bus but don't have to worry about traffic.

I always that the bus that runs about every 20 minutes from airport to central trail station.
If you are concerned about rush hour traffic and have a schedule to stick to, there is also a
train that runs from the MXP airport to the central train station....I but I have never taken it.
I'm sure several folks on these forums have taken the train and can comment.

There is a train every half hour to Milano Centrale. It takes from 45 to 55 minutes and costs 12 euro when I last checked. So that will take inside the station where all you have to do is change tracks. You might be able to buy the Milan-Genoa tickets at the airport station desk as well. I've used the ticket vending machine for Trenitalia tickets.

ted,

It would help to know which Terminal you're arriving at as that will determine which mode of transport to use. If you're arriving at Terminal 1, the easiest way to travel that route is to use the Malpensa Express. However, there are a few important points to note.

  • You can buy your tickets at the airport rail station, but DON'T forget to validate them prior to boarding the train or you'll risk hefty fines. You may be able to buy your ticket to Genova there also, but if not you can easily buy that from one of the Kiosks at Milano Centrale.
  • The M.E. has two routes, one to Milano Centrale and one to Milano Cadorna. BE SURE to board the correct train.
  • Travel time from MXP to Centrale is about 52 minutes. You'll arrive on Binario (track) 1 or 2 and will then have to go into the main hall to find your next train.
