Milan May 2018.

Looking for the best day trips from Milan area. Train trips preferred but open to any other suggestions, looking maybe to go to Switzerland, Alps, Nothern Italy. Will be there for 6 days and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A nice long day trip would be to Milano to St. Moritz via the Bernina Pass. The scenery is breathtaking. You could also go to Como to do a 2-3 hour cruise around Lake Como with a stop at Bellagio. Verona also makes a nice day trip. Going to Venice would be a long day trip.

Do not overlook browsing around Milano because it is a very interesting city. Neat things in no certain order: The Last Supper, The Leonardo Di Vinci National Science Museum (you can also tour an Italian navy submarine), La Brera, The Duomo and museum, The Galleria Vittorio Emanule, strolling the Navigli neighborhood after dinner, strolling the Brera area after dinner. Castello Sforzesco, and the Acro di Pace.

Buon viaggio,

We spent four days in Milan this past July, and could easily have filled several more. We visited Sempione Park, the Duomo, Duomo Museum, the Canal District, San Maurizio at the Monastero Maggiori (amazing frescoes, as well as an archaeological museum we didn't have time for,) Castello Forzesco - we spent a whole day there and didn't see everything, and we took a City Wonders tour that included the Last Supper.

We can't wait to go back to see all the stuff we missed!

Bergamo. It's a charming hilltop town with great views and lovely piazzas.
