Milan Malpensa airport hotel

What's the best airport hotel for easy access to Terminal 1 for 10:30am departure to the US? The Sheraton, located in the airport, apparently only takes reservations for at least two nights. We'll arrive from Lake Como the afternoon of Sept 7. I've seen photos of a really packed airport; is this usually the case? How early should we arrive?

I'm not sure which is the "best" hotel at Malpensa, but I've stayed at the Sheraton Malpensa and it was very comfortable! As I recall, it was easy to walk directly from the lobby into Terminal 1. I wasn't aware they had a two night rule (I believe I only stayed for one night?).

Like many airports, Malpensa can be really busy at times but that likely depends on the number of flights arriving, time of day, etc. For an international flight, I would probably arrive 2-3 hours prior to the flight. Your airline should provide information on how early to arrive at the airport.

I’ve stayed at the hotel linked below at least 3 times in the past (2018 the last time). They have a shuttle to terminal 1.

For a US bound flight the airlines recommend to check in 3 hours prior to departure. MXP is not as busy as it used to be when the now defunct Alitalia had its main hub there about 25 years ago, so the lines through security are not that long generally, also because the low cost airlines (EasyJet has a hub at MXP) fly out of terminal 2, totally separately from T1.

Two months ago, we stayed at the Sheraton MXP and were extremely pleased with the service, & room. It was an easy walk straight into the check-in area of the airport. Our stay was for one night, and I booked it approximately 6 months in advance. There were a lot of fellow travelers there for only one night. Perhaps there is a glitch in their reservation system, or it could be sold out for the night. Have you tried contacting the hotel directly?

I've used the Sheraton MXP for over 15 years or so, and as far as I know, there is no 'minimum 2 nights' policy. However, it looks like it's fully booked on September 7th, which is unfortunate.

The Moxy at Terminal 2 also looks to be fully booked.

Wherever you end-up staying, you should aim to get to the bag drop area at Terminal 1 by 07:30 at the very latest.

The Sheraton at Malpensa could not be more convenient or comfortable. We only stayed one night, 3 years ago.
It doesn't make sense for an airport hotel to have a 2 night minimum, so maybe check again?

I wouldn't cut it too tight.

There will be the thrill of exit EES to deal with as well as all the usual fun and games.

I stayed at the Sheraton MXP last year for one night. It was a very convenient short walk to the terminal. I just tried making a dummy booking for one night and I had no problems.

In 2023, I stayed the night before my flight at First Hotel a few minutes from the airport. They run a shuttle to and from the airport for a small fee. It was a fine hotel for a night, reasonably priced and there was a surprisingly good restaurant next door. They offer breakfast, but my flight was too early to try it out. There were other hotels close by - Crown Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, and others.

In 2024 we stayed at the Moxy Milano at the airport. Shuttle is right across the street from the hotel and runs frequently. At the time the Moxy was a lot less expensive than the Sheraton and our room was great—clean and fairly new (or newly updated). I’d definitely stay there again

First hotel worked for us also. Nice place. You've got the slight inconvenience of a shuttle but it's half the price of the Sheraton.
