Milan Linate Airport - early morning flight

Hi all

If we stay in a hotel near Milano Centrale for our 1 night before our flight, would we have any issues getting a taxi to Linate Airport around 4:30am for a 7am flight?

Any rough idea of how long that ride would take or how much it would cost that early in the morning?

Thank you!!

I stayed near the Duomo several years ago and got a taxi for earlier than the hotel suggested. I don't think the taxi ride that early in the AM was more than about 15-20 minutes. I don't remember the price - less than 20E at that time I'm sure. The desks were not open and I stood around for a long time for a 6A flight. Lesson learned. Listen to the hotel, lol!! The one good thing that happened was that at that time I was a Silver Medallion with Delta (their lowest level) and an employee was walking down the very long line of folks, saw my Silver Medallion tag, pulled me out of line and took me elsewhere to check in. It was awesome, lol.

You didn't ask this but at that time I decided I would never do those early flights to a hub to fly back to the US again. My plan if I'm returning home from one of those locations is to fly back to Paris or Amsterdam the afternoon before. My particular plan might not be relevant for you but thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks for the info folks. Hopefully the price is closer to 20 euros than 60 for a 15-20 min drive?!

Pam- Can I ask why you've sworn off those flights? Did something go wrong?

Our trip is already short at 11 days so losing our final night just for the sake of a different airport seems very much not worth it. If I'm not taking something into consideration please tell me. What am I missing?

This flight would be Milan - Brussels - Montreal - Halifax.

Thank you

Sorry I just copied the fare I saw on the airport in haste without reading it--yes it will be less than 60 euros. My point was to always check the airport website!

The distance is 8km (5 miles) and against the commute traffic (which early in the morning is very light anyway). A taxi can take you there in 15 minutes.

Being at the airport 90 min before the flight at Linate is already overkill. It's not a huge and busy airport. Get the taxi after 5am.

Taxi rates from Milan city center to Linate are not flat rates, they go by the meter. At that time in the morning there might be the night flag down fee of 7 euro, to that you need to add about 1.20 euro per km (so under 10 euro from most downtown hotels). There is also a hourly charge in case of traffic (about 30 euro per hour). I don't know if there is an extra 1 euro charge for each bag in the trunk.

So altogether the taxi shouldn't be more than 20 some euro.

No, nothing went wrong, I was just anxious that something WOULD go wrong, lol. And...trust me on this...my mind can come up with ALL sorts of scenarios, haha!

I have a much longer set of flights than you as I fly to the US Inland Northwest. Generally few flights per day from Paris/Amsterdam to Seattle/Salt Lake City and then at that time I was flying to a very small airport with only 2 flights per day from the hub. Any glitch along the way would have knocked everything out. I'm currently flying in to a larger airport after Seattle so there are flights every 2 hours or so all day long.

I also have much more time than you do so another night here or there doesn't matter to me. Much different if you are working with a time constraint so in your situation I'd probably spend that last night in Milan.
