Milan Left Luggage

I'll be traveling from Malpensa airport to the Milan central station to store my luggage for a few hours while visiting the Last Supper and the Duomo before returning to take a train to Verona. If there is a line for Left Luggage, how much time do you think I should allow to stand in line and then taxi to Santa Maria delle Grazie for an 11:30 AM entry?

Diana, hard to say how long the line may be at left luggage, either coming or going. From this forum, it seems that more and more people are using this service. Are you aware that you can only stay in the Last Supper room for a limited amount of time? I think it's 15 or 20 minutes. Last July they were strict about entry times, but there was not a long line to get in. If you have time, take the elevator to the roof of the Duomo for close-up views of gargoyles and saints, as well as the layout of the city.

Hi Zoe, Thanks for your reply. I do plan to take the elevator at the Duomo to see the gargoyles. I'm looking forward to that! I was hoping someone had first-hand knowledge, although I know it's hard to know for sure, at any given time, how long the wait will be. My hotel is near the airport, so my plan right now is to take the 8:30 train and arrive at the train station at approx 9:30, deposit the luggage, taxi to Santa Maria delle Grazie at 10:30, rent the English language head phones, and pick up our free tickets (we will be there during Cultural Week). If you, or anyone else, feels an hour at the train station is not enough time to get the luggage stowed for the day, I can take any earlier train. I was just hoping I wouldn't have to get up at O-dark-30 on my first morning in Italy!

We had a similar plan for Milan a few years ago and arrived at the central station in mid morning. The left luggage facility is on the main floor and there was a line but it moved fairly quickly-fifteen minutes or so. The charge was 3.50 euros per bag at that time.

Hey Susan, Good to know the line moves quickly. Maybe my plan will work out okay after all. Whew! Thanks for letting me know about your experience.
