We have a few days to spend before joining the tour in Venice. Any recommendations for reasonable places to stay in the Milan/Lake Como areas?

Lake Como would be a great place to get over jet lag. Varenna is an easy train ride from Milan. We stayed at the Orange House, a small B&B. It was a great place to stay and the owners are wonderful. The price is very reasonable. It is an easy walk from the train station and close to the ferry if you want to check out other locations on the lake.

If you are interested in taking a cooking class, there is a really nice one you can do in Varenna at Il Caminetto. It is very reasonably priced. They will pick you up and bring you back. One pick up/drop off spot is at the ferry terminal, but they picked us up at the Orange House. Expect it to take all day. Lots of fun!!
