what is there to do in milan in may?
The same things that you can do in June, July, and April.
Which means not much.
Duomo. Last Supper. Lots of traffic.
Ouch! Milan isn't for everyone, I used to not be a fan, but now I have to say that I love going to Milan for the day or for an evening out. There is something so sophisticated about it, the well dressed people, the great stores and restaurants, it's where Italy's fashion and design industry is located and that vibe rubs off on everything else. Take a walk through the Brera area, go to the Duomo, have an aperativo at some fancy bar, people watch during the evening passeggiata. I know I'm not the only person on this site who likes Milan.....
You're not, Claire. Many people have great things to recommend about Milan.
My experiences of the city are of it as a place to get away from after landing at Malpensa or to get to as a connection to Malpensa.
It is a major European city. It has its own neighborhoods and charms. But it is quite different from the Italy most of us want to visit.
As the people of Milan will tell you, though, they make the money that supports the rest of Italy.
Claire, I'm glad to hear that Milano has some "saving graces". I've passed through there a number of times, but never really stopped to explore the city. The rail station there is one of my least favourites!
I'll be spending a few days in Milano on my next trip, so looking forward to having a look around the city.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tips! I look forward to seeing the Brera district. 'The Last Supper' is book solid until June.
