Quick Question: I have always traveled with my children. I have booked hotels for years in Europe, and Italy. Never before in Milan. We have 1 night in Milan prior to departing the next day from Malpensa. I am bumping into a problem finding a room for 3 in Milan. We are traveling with my 17 yr old son. We generally like to stay in 4 star and above. Hotel after hotel has indicted I would have to take 2 rooms or book a jr suite. Neither of these is really of interest to me so we might just skip Milan. Does this issue seem familiar to anyone else? The Hilton is not in my desired area but it does provide for 3 in a room. Is this your experience in Milan any other thoughts?
Try using venere.com. The opening shot has an option for number of persons in a room. Once the sort spits out, you can re-rank it by stars.
I'm lucky to move up to a half-star place once in a great while, so I can't help with a recommendation. We've found that anything with a guest-rating above 8.0 (with a goodly number of raters) is pretty darn good, regardless of the number of stars.
I was in Milan the end of May under the same situation of staying one night and leaving from Malpensa the next day. We stayed in the Atlantic Hotel and it was very nice. According to their website they have rooms with a king-size bed and a single bed. It is one block from the train station and the bus stop for the Malpensa Express bus.
I always use venere.com and tripadvisor.com to find hotels and read client reviews. As for Milano, I always stay at Hotel Berna, which is a 4 star property that serves the largest breakfast buffet in the city. I have stayed there for years.
Buon viaggio,

Barbara: Some travelers not familiar with Milan (you said this was the first time there) are blind-sided by the fact that Malpensa airport is 30 miles northwest of the city center, which requires prior planning in order to allow for the travel time to the airport for a flight departing the next day, depending on the time of the flight.
