Milan Hotels/B&Bs?

I'll be joining the ETBD Venice, Florence and Rome tour in December. I've decided to fly into Milan and enjoy a couple of days there before the tour. I've been researching hotels reviewed on TripAdvisor yet wanted to know if any of you had any suggestions, as well. I don't need a 5-star hotel. I just want a relatively safe area that is near the metro line for easy access to sites and the train station. Thanks!

I don't know what your budget is like, but I can heartily recommend the Hotel Star (I know, it sounds like something from Hollywood)...read the reviews in Trip Advisor (you'll see mine there byoung3rd). It truly is very centrally located...minutes from everything...you can walk to the last supper in about 15 minutes...everything else was no more than 5 minutes from the hotel...

Wow! Great recommendation, Bill! I just checked the website, and I can get a single room for 80 Euros/night! That's about the cheapest I've been able to find. Were you allowed to check in earlier than the 2pm check-in time?

I stayed at the Hotel Berna and thought it a good value (of course, that was 2 years ago). I stayed in the "old" part of the hotel, but it was very clean and quiet. Their website often has deals.
