I'm passing through Milan in early June and would love to find a reasonably priced hotel for 1 night, so I can explore the city a little. Lots of hotels already seem to be booked, and many others are $200 or more. Ideally, I'd like to find something around $100-125 (1 person), but it is more important to find someplace safe, clean, and convenient to the subway and the central train station. Simple is fine. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
We stayed at the Hotel Berna, about 2 blocks from the main train station in Milan Dec. 2010. It starts at 109 euros, but may be much more expensive if a convention is underway. It's well done, clean, AC, elevator, good breakfast, variety of rates. Several other hotels on the same street if it doesn't work. I thought it was a very good value.
I can heartily second the 4 star Hotel Berna as mentioned previously. We have stayed there many times and really like the property. It is located at Via Napo Torriano 18, about 500 meters from Stazione Centrale. There are also many other hotels on the street, as well.
