We will be arriving from US at 6:30pm into Linate then taking train/ferry next morning to Bellagio. Any hotel recommendations close to train station with decent restaurants nearby? Will be on foot/taxi.

Hotel Berna is about 3 blocks from Centrale. Antica Osteria Cavalini is a great restaurant 2 blocks from there. That is if you plan to take the train to Varenna and the mid-lake shuttle from there to Bellagio. If, on the other hand, you want to take the train to Como Nord Lago and a fast (or slow) ferry from there, you need to be by Cadorna station and the Duomo. Not familiar with anything in that neighborhood, but others can help.

We were pleased with Hotel Garda for the night just down the street from centrale station. 2nd Sam’s restaurant recommendation. The veal ossobuco was excellent.

I have stayed at both the Garda and the Berna - perfect location..... they are across the street from each other and only a couple blocks to train station and underground subway/metro station.

I can also recommend Hotel Berna and they have a wonderful breakfast buffet.

I can also recommend Hotel Berna. The location was good, the room was nice, and there is no way you can leave breakfast hungry.
