I would say my idea is to stay in city center just because I have never been to Milan
Safe neighborhood so I can walk about in the evening

I have stayed twice at the Hotel Gran Duca di York. It is about a 5-minutes walk to the Duomo, directly across the street from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and it took me about 30 minutes to walk to the venue for The Last Supper. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and as an older solo woman traveler I felt the neighborhood was safe. Breakfast spread was extensive even though I'm not much of a breakfast eater, lol.

I really like the staff at this hotel. They are very helpful and kind!

Like Pam I really liked the Gran Duca di York and would stay there again. I felt totally safe there and it was conveniently located to everything I wanted to see and do: Last Supper, Duomo, Sforza Castle, Parco Sempione, La Scala and more.
