Flying in to Milan and will spend one night before joining tour in Venice. Would love to find a hotel in Historic district less than 150 euro. 1 double room for my husband and me. Any FIRST-HAND recommendations?

Hi Susan,
I stayed at the Hotel London at the end of a Rick Steves trip in 2006. The hotel itself is nothing special, but the location is good. It is between the Duomo and the Sforza castle. You can walk from the Cadorna train station (it is about 5 blocks I think) where there is a train to Milan Malpensa airport. The hotel is also close to a subway stop.
I also stayed at Hotel Speronari on two occasions in the 90s. This hotel is in a fantastic location (about a block from the Duomo). The hotel itself used to be very budget. It closed for a while for renovation and I have no idea if it has reopened or what it is like now.
