what is the best way (short of expensive taxi) to get from Milan Hilton to MXP airport on a Friday AM? We have a 10:30 flight, so would like to be there by 8:30 AM, latest? IS the express bus reliable in the AM--or should we take the train--and how do we do that? thanks, Elaine

Is it the Hilton next to the Centrale station? There is only the bus from that station and takes about an hour. I don't know how early it runs. The train is from the other train station on the west side.

I've stayed at the Hilton and as Frank says it is VERY convenient to the central train Station. From there you would have to take the bus. When you get to Milan's central station take one of two competing shuttle bus services to the Airport. The airport buses depart from the lower level curbside just to the side of the train station. They cost around 6 Euros and the trip takes around 1 hour depending on the traffic. Hope that helps!

how early do the buses run? Can I buy a ticket the evening prior? Would a 7 AM bus get us to the airport by 8:30, even in traffic? Would there be traffic going from Milan to airport at 7 AM, or is most traffic coming into downtown Milan? Would we be better trying to subway over and catch a train to airport? How difficult would this be? thanks, Elaine

As I am prone to saying, "That is why they invented the internet !" Goggle "Milan Airport" and it will answer all your questions. The bus starts running at 5AM and it is about an hour run. The pick up point and office as I remember is on the SE corner of the Central Train station. It is hole in the wall and not real obvious. But it has been a few years since we did it and things may have changed. Use google earth to take a look at the train station and see if you can see the pickup point.
The express train to the airport departs from the Cardorna station which is closer to the Domo and states at 5:50. But you would have to get there via subway or taxi from the hotel. The train is quicker but I don't think you would save much time.
