Are the shops open on Sunday? I am not a big shopper but I plan to visit the Galleria and it would be more enjoyable if shops are open. I know Milan is a big city so they might be open, on the other hand was in Berlin a year ago and a big mall was entirely shut down on Sunday.

They are generally open on Sunday. I would not bet on major festivities like Easter Sunday or Christmas and some of the following days.
